O’er the land of the free and the home of the brave.

Tomato, tom-ar-to.

Red pepper, capsicum.

Canteloupe, rockmelon.

Coriander, cilantro.

Today I forgot my pass for the gym. It wasn’t a big deal, I just had to answer some ID questions, like name and date of birth. 12/5/88 of course …eh or, 5/12/88!

I’ve been in America for over 5 months now but there are still a few things that I can’t seem to get my head around. Date is one of them, saying flip-flops is another!

It’s funny to think that two countries can seem so similar yet have so many differences.

But then again, not everything is opposite.

Yesterday was Independence Day, 07/04/11.

Me, a few Americans, an English lad.

Fireworks, grilling out, beers.

Being proud of your country.

Now that’s international.

  • WAWHOOOOO! Sounds like such a fun day. What kinda beers did you drink? And there is something powerful about the Americans pledging that makes you feel all worked up and patriotic huh?
The date thing threw me too. And the bin… saying where is the bin? No idea.

  • The beverage of the evening was Coors Light and Newcastle Pale Ale 🙂 We had a British guest! I’ve never noticed the ‘bin’ before…I guess they say trash huh? And saying ‘boot’ for car instead of trunk, I get laughed at everytime! It was definitely a stirring occasion to be here!

You are turning into a little Yankee Doodle Dandy-I can tell it’s happening!!! Sounds like a great weekend at the beach, and the water so warm-hard to believe when it’s currently 3 degrees here with freezing winds-would rather be there with you Quackling.

  • So that’s what cilantro is! Any excuse for a grill out is a good one I say.
I love all those little differences, always good for a chuckle.

  • As an American living in the UK I know exactly what you mean daaaaaaahling. I hope you enjoyed a fabulous Independence Day!
    *kisses* HH
